Back from the first day of a whole new term, and a Maths Common Test. Think I can pass, although it hinges on that last 7-mark thingy... never mind, at least it is over.

One down, three to go then... just hope it would go faster.

June holidays ending and Common Tests looming... *sigh*. Nothing much to say after a gruelling day of Maths except all the best to everyone for the next four days of you know what!

Ha... quite a fun day today. Went back to RI on official business, to take photos of our new RJ campus just next door. That done, I decided to hang around my alma mater. It was, after all, literally my second home for four years.

I managed to meet Mr Mark Wee and Ms Soh Ai Hoon, quite nice to be able to talk to them again after such a long while. Man, RI certainly has changed. First and foremost, THE FRIGGIN' SOON KIAT ARE GONE! Ok, I knew that since early this year, but when I saw cleaners walking around in beige uniforms with buttons instead of the ubiquitous green shirts with "Soon Kiat Construction" on the back, the loss really hit.:-( And there are just so many teachers I don't recognise. Quite a few of our RI celebrities are gone, among them Mr Indra. Ayyy...

After wandering around thusly for a while, I went to the HML. It's still the best school library in all of Singapore, but the aircon seemed screwed; it was quite hot, which was definitely not typical.

There, I met a couple of my guitar juniors; pretty unexpected, I'd thought they would be at home studying for Common Test, traditionally Term 3 Week 2. Turns out because of SARS this year, they had two, one last term and the next in 5 weeks' time. Oh well.

So we chatted. Had some catching up to do, but I had been keeping abreast of events in RI, generally, so I knew quite a bit of stuff. In turn, they asked me about RJ. Ha, can't believe it, they were just like me last year going "RJ or bust, RJ or bust..." and "I'm going to go Poly". So funny.:-) They seemed particularly interested in the uniform, having heard it was fireproof, waterproof and chemical-proof, etc. Haha.

And so then, apparently the RIGE is in deep shit. They'll be lucky to get a Silver in the upcoming SYF. Apparently the problem is a lack of committment from members. Ah, old problem. But apparently the new teacher-in-charge is not as ruthless as Mrs Koh used to be (sigh, why did she have to go to Dunman?), so well, they've been muddling along... hai. Well none of this is my business anymore, but 4 years in the Ensemble, I can't help but continue to feel some kind of attachment to it.

We talked some more, then finally left together. We parted at J8, and I wondered when was the next time I would get to go back again. Hm, actually it's only a matter of months.:-p Felt great walking around RI again though, reliving memories and chatting with old aquaintances and teachers... one of the small joys of life I guess. Sighhhh...

Ha... another dull day. Bah.

Wednesday, June 25, 2003

Another day has slipped past as silently as a skilled assassin in the night. Went to school today for a rather fruitful study session, of which the last hour we spent playing bridge. Heck, it was well-earned.

I really oughta use those link spaces on the sidebar they so thoughtfully provide. When I have more time, perhaps.

Well here I am again, just to round up the day... not a bad one by any standards, really, especially those set by following a mind-numbing routine. But anyway, yeah, did work and all, then came back and ofund I was still very busy, had to answer mails and queries and loads of stuff! Ay...

DT dragging me down to school to mug tommorrow. Oh well.

Just finished reading something that made my blood boil.

Responses to my online aquaintance's argument against US foreign policy in a discussion on some messageboard (I shall not reveal which)

[quote]

"U CHINK, **** you, GO BCK TO UR COMMUNIST COUNTRY"

"UR ***** WOULD HAVE BEEN KICKED IF NOT FOR US IN WWII LOL"

"UR JUST JEALOUS BECAUSE WE OWN YOU"

"UR GAY"

"UR NOT WHITE, UR A CHINK, WE DONT CARE **** ABOUT UR OPINION"

"I DONT CARE **** ABOUT CIVILIAN CASUALTIES PLUS SADDAM KILLED MORE CIVILIANS"

"THE FRENCH WERE BASTARDS, THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN BOMBED, WE SHOULD CONQUER RUSSIA AS WELL"

"Singapore is a third world country"

"GO BACK TO CHINA YOU DOG EATER"

"Singapore has no military"

"**** THE AFGHANS THEY SUCK"

"YOU INDONESIAN **** YOU"

"There is WMD in Iraq, there is, period. You uneducated Chinks don't know anything"

[/unquote]

Ok now, what the fuck. Seriously, WHAT THE FUCK. I thought people would be far less ignorant than this, especially Americans, who purport to belong to the most enlightened and technologically advanced society currently existing. Fuck no, that is so fucking not the case, as I can see. The racist barbs are simply horrid. Fucked-up assholes, they probably couldn't place one of the US' larger economic partners (Singapore is the US' 11th-largest trading partner) on a fucking map. Maybe they'll put it somewhere in the middle of the fucking Gobi Desert, judging from what some of those fuckheads said up there.

Ignorance is bliss eh? Not fucking true for the people who have to suffer it, I would say. I always knew the Internet could be a sordid place, but only when such fucking shit confronts me face-to-face then do I know just how fucking sordid it can fucking well be. Oh well, that is the way things are.

Zihao did say my blog hasn't been interesting for the past few days, so I decided I would put this in and let people laugh at it. Laugh at the fucking ignorance of people from the "Land of the Free and "Home of the Brave". Some of them are just so damn stupid. If we were a Third World country this fucking blog wouldn't fucking exist, for one. And why do they keep thinking we are part of China. Fuck no, we aren't. Stupid assholes.

Signing off for now. Count the f-words.

Haha... the class blog is up! A great idea I would say.:) Visit it at 1ao1c03.blogspot.com.

Another Monday gone. Can't believe it is time to go back to school and meet the maker, in the guise of JC1 Common Test, next week. First thing on Monday: Mathetmatics C. An auspicious start indeed. Fuck, I shall be prepared to fail the whole bloody thing.

A bloody hot day today, but ok otherwise. Got some Lit and Maths done, although the fucking difficult AP GP questions nearly had me tearing my hair out (only it was too short). I did what I could, but this does not bode well at all.

Waxing philosophical in MSN convos again, like I always do... about humans and perfectness. But since it will be narcissistic to quote myself, I shall not. Just that, flaws are what make people beautiful. Chew on that.

Well, a day I didn't have to go anywhere. At last.

Was very, very tired yesterday, so went to sleep early, about 12.30am. I slept very soundly until around 8, then could sleep no more. I hate it when that ahppens, a bit more sleep really wouldn't do any harm.

Again, spent the day preparing for the accursed Common Test. Life is so fun, eh?

Whole day of RMUN filming and a tremendously exhausting week behind me. Very, very tired, so today's entry will be short. Good day.

Friday, June 20, 2003

Fuck. My monitor finally died on me today. The signs were there six months ago, but it somehow wheezed its way through another half a year before at last expiring. I had just gone upstairs to take a phone call from Zihao and switched it back on to use my com (like I always do). It worked fine for several minutes, then it began flickering and suddenly going black, each time returning with a sickening crackle. After about ten minutes of this, with tiny periods of normalcy in between, it gave out and sputtered to a soft and quiet death.

So now I'm stuck with a positively tiny 15-inch. Shit. Ah what the fuck, at least I can still use my com.

Forgot to blog yesterday. Bah.

Had a great time though, went for class gathering at Sona's house (oh man that toilet entrance sure was creepy) then headed over to DT's house. We planned to study but ended up installing and playing Cossacks instead. Sad sad sad...

Still at his house now, staying until tommorrow. Having an IPW meeting, hope we get constructive stuff done today. Sigh...

Another Tuesday has passed us by...

Went for Econs make-up lesson today. Got my last lecture test back; I actually managed a double-digit score?! Whoa... Learnt a bit in the 3 hrs, but it was overlong. Then went to chill out with the class at Macs. A happy spot in an otherwise uneventful day.

Class party tommorrow, then I'll be heading over to DT's house for the next 2 days to do IPW. After that I have to film RMUN crisis scripts during the weekend. Urgh... so many things to do...

Another day gone. Not much happened at all today. I don't have anything to put up, so here are the lyrics of the Soviet national anthem instead.

The Hymn of the Soviet Union

Unbreakable Union of freeborn Republics,
Great Russia has welded forever to stand.
Created in struggle by will of the people,
United and mighty, our Soviet land!

Sing to the Motherland, home of the free,
Bulwark of peoples in brotherhood strong.
O Party of Lenin, the strength of the people,
To Communism's triumph lead us on!

Through tempests the sunrays of freedom have cheered us,
Along the new path where great Lenin did lead.
To a righteous cause he raised up the peoples,
Inspired them to labor and valorous deed.
[Or, the old way:
Be true to the people, thus Stalin has reared us,
Inspire us to labor and valorous deed!]

Sing to the Motherland, home of the free,
Bulwark of peoples in brotherhood strong.
O Party of Lenin, the strength of the people,
To Communism's triumph lead us on!

In the vict'ry of Communism's deathless ideal,
We see the future of our dear land.
And to her fluttering scarlet banner,
Selflessly true we always shall stand!

Shit... damn tired for the whole of today. My insomnia finally catching up on me? Looks like six fucking hours of sleep a day is not bloody enough. Fuck, it was all I could do to stop myself from falling asleep over my books; once it was my brother's loud laughter that roused me. Bloody hell.

A busy week looms... make-up lessons, project work meetings and RMUN preparations; 4 out of seven days gone... *sigh* Prepare to fail Common Test. Blah.

Saturday, June 14, 2003

Ah... what a tiring day today. In school literally half the day... 7am to 6.30pm. Judged RMUN presentations for 5 and a half hours straight, can you believe it? Then had another long meeting. Whoa. Got home only at close to 7, lucky I live nearby.

Spent the night doing project work and slacking after that, My, 1/3 of the holidays over already, and this blog's a week old. Joy.

Friday, June 13, 2003

Another mundane day... this mind-numbing routine is killing me. Wake up, go online, go and study, get tired, go online again, go and study, get tired, go online again... shit.

Got a long day judging RMUN presentations tommorrow. Well, it breaks the fucking tedium; good thing, I guess.

Gotta sleep early tonight. Have to be in school by 7 tommorrow! Oh well...

Thursday, June 12, 2003

Went out with DT and some other guys today. Picked up an M4M guide and Milton Osbourne at Kino, should be helpful...

Gonna be busy the next few days, and damnit, why aren't these posts being reflected on my blog?!

Wednesday, June 11, 2003

Went to school today. Man, the SARS measures are a real pain. But what can I do?

Still going out with DT tommorrow. Hopefully we'll have a rich harvest of knowledge.

Blogger not been working well lately. Hope this goes up.

Another day spent at home studying. This is getting sian, but what choice do I have? Got to go to school tommorrow, at least getting out of the house...

Had a long telephone conversation with DT just now, we talked about lots of things. I'll be going out with him after Econs on Thursday; for dinner and to browse some reference books and such. It'll be quite a bit of a break from being cooped up at home all day, I suppose.

Damn my monitor is dying (actually it has been for over half a year). Well they're cheap now at least, so I've heard... better go try to shop for one.

This was yesterday's post. Server was funny again.

Monday, June 09, 2003

Another day gone. Not too bad, it was. Spent it studying again, what choice do I have?

Gotta go back to school 3 times in the next 5 days. Busy, busy, busy... WTF.

Couldn't update yesterday because their server was down. Oh well, better late than never.

Was another uneventful day yesterday. Spent it doing Maths. I just can't stand it how the hell I have 3 subjects that have no shit to do with numbers at all but must spend so much time on the one that does. Stupid screwed-up system.

Another thing I can't stand is the fucking neighbours' dogs. They were, like, howling yesterday morning as if it was the apocalypse or something. Severely irritating. I mean, what the fuck, either they are barking loud at night or doing this shit. I swear, one day I'll kill every single of those beasts from hell and drink their blood. And just as well, there they bloody hell go again.

But aside from that, it was an ok day, and this has been an ok weekend. Only I wish I could sleep more than six hours before waking up.

Sunday, June 08, 2003

What possessed me to do this? Oh yeah, I needed somewhere to bitch.

So, it's 1.05am on Sunday, June 8, 2003. The holidays are over 24 hours old. Haha yay. WTF.

So 2 whole terms are over, and an entire semester. Too much has happened. Luckily most of it was happy... relatively, I guess. The bad thing is time really flew. Gone is 1/4 of our JC life. It was too fast...

In other news, the fucking photocopying bitch screwed up a batch of notes yesterday. Curse her to rot in the deepest regions of hell, the stupid witch. Sometimes I feel like burning her room down, damn it.

Ah hell. "It's just another day/for you and me/ in Paradise..."
