Just back from watching Return of the King.

For one of the few times in my life, words fail me. It was just an incred... no, amazi... no, aweso... no, no, no. Truly, now words have been invented to describe what it was. Suffice to say it was the best movie I have ever seen and probably will ever see.

I mean, it had everything. An epic journey fraught with danger and evil, epic battle scenes and scope, and a simple but very compelling plot. Pelennor Fields made Helm's Deep look like a bloody street brawl, for goodness sake. From the pan-out views of Minas Tirith under siege to the massive army of Orcs to the charge of the Rohan cavalry to the eventual defeat of Sauron's army by the Army of the Dead, it was fantastic. The pacing was good enough, with a slow build-up to action (including the Orcs taking the town across the river), and an explosion of jaw-dropping action once the battle began in earnest.

Only complaints would be a slightly dragged out ending and some corny dialogue. Otherwise, it simply... rocks.
