Basket.

I watched Incredible Tales (actually had to check to get the name; memory apparently deteriorating -sign of possible dementia) on TV today. The acting was, surprisingly, decent, and I didn't mind in the least that it was a traditional tale of a haunted HDB flat. I like a good ghost story, and this was good enough.

Despite the "viewer discretion is advised" disclaimer at the beginning, I actually laughed when I watched it; at the exceedinly innovative effects, prime among which went along the lines of:

1. (Enter Ghost)

2. *Cue spooky music and sound*

3. Interpose with shots of person restlessly turning in bed/cooking in kitchen/showering/going about any other mundane everyday business while looking nervously over shoulder

4. End scene with person looking very shocked/hyperventilating/disturbed/(strangely) utterly unpertubed/in state of complete hysteria/trembling/dismissing encounter as dream

5. Parts 1 and 2 are interchangeable.

I think I was last frightened by such effects when I was eight. Now I am more frightened by their stunning lack of originality.

Not a bad show though, all things considered, plus it is supposedly true.

One last thing though: What the fuck is a "motivational psychologist" doing speaking on the supernatural? I see no way his education and subsequent occupation can possibly equip him with knowledge of such otherwordly phenomena.
