Anniversaries, even minor ones, are always the perfect times for looking back on the past and reflecting upon it. Zihao was looking over past egroup posts, and he mentioned how different it used to be. I went back to take a browse through, and it sent chills down my spine. Indeed, the world was a different place then. Bright optimism contrasted with damp pessimism, a zest for life now replaced by tinges of nihilism. February 2003, a whole eon ago.

Much more is stored within my memory than within the egroups. I remember all the mass convos we had during the SARS break, the whimsical things we did (like putting together a string of emoticons and see who could make up the best explanation about them, a contest I regularly won) and all the good times we had. Now it's all been swallowed up by work and worries. Last June was great fun despite project work and common test, which no one gave a damn about; this June is quiet and sombre. What a difference a year makes.

Well, nothing lasts forever. We're still a great bunch in real life, though. But time is too incredibly fast. I have had the excellent fortune of being in two amazing classes in a row; I'll have to make do with that. Incredible amount of nostalgia every time June rolls around though, I have plenty of anniversaries in this month. Three years ago, 3E held its first class gathering around this time. Sunday, we had the latest. It's been too fast, all too fast.
