I can stand most insects, anthropods and assorted such creatures fairly well, with two exceptions: 1) They are of prodigious proportions and 2) They are cockroaches. God forbid any creature on God's green Earth I ever have a chance of seeing should fulfil both aforementioned criteria.

So first thing on Wednesday morning, everyone files into class happy and ready to begin a whole new day of learning. Then we spot the spider. It is no ordinary house spider, those that can very comfortably fit on my fingernail, being considerable in size, but I have definitely seen worse. It doesn't scare me, and I am about to go after it with a broom when Mark, the sudden humanitarian, stops me. After Roger jabs at it with an umbrella, however, the thing flits across the wall and Sean decides that it must be exterminated. Using an MOE propaganda pamphlet, he handily dealt with the beast. And we thought that was the end of it, Man triumphant over Nature lalala etc.

But the real trouble is to come. During GP, what else but a flying cockroach flits across the whiteboard. Deeply disturbed by the sudden appearance of my greatest nemesis, I am all ready to bolt the room, but I am restrained by cooler heads. Then it flies right at the people in front of me. And I run, before I scream, which are the only two things I can do when confronted by a cockroach. They killed it, but what an awful experience that was. Shit. Nothing I will ever face on Earth can inspire such terror within me than a flying cockroach. *Shiver*
