Day 6: The Grand Palace and assorted wats
The touristy side of Bangkok... including the ever-popular Grand Palace.

Post-apocalyptic view of the Grand Palace. Fortunately, rainy days like these weren't too common.

A magnificent golden reclining Buddha, in one of the wats, which due to its size I was not able to take a proper photograph of. Nonetheless, you surely can appreciate just how vast and awe-inspiring it was.
The steps leading up to the Golden Mount, once Bangkok's highest point. They were hell to climb, but the view from the top was to make it all worthwhile.
As I said, the view from the top certainly made the hard climb worthwhile.
Day 7: Shopping!
Well, no one goes to Bangkok without dedicating at least a day to shopping - we had two, one at Chatuchak and the other in Bangkok's spanking new shopping malls. Not many photos here; just a few of the most imposing shopping centre I've ever seen: Siam Paragon, which is of unbelievable size and dwarfs anything here put together.
Day 8: Chinatown and Homeward Bound
Last day, which we used to visit Bangkok's Chinatown. Larger, more chaotic and a lot more congested than ours - yet also a lot more quaint and old-world charming.

A congested warren of streets, with shops on either side selling virtually all manner of dried foodstuff, cooked food and weird and wonderful trinkets. You don't get more Chinese than that.
Ah, wonderful congestion and bracing air pollution!

Bangkok's spanking new Suvarnabhumi Airport. Remember, all future travellers, you're going to land here now. Don't make the mistake we did.
And thus concluded our trip. Hope everyone going to Thailand in the near future has just as pleasant a holiday as we did.
